A madrone tree in California. I love these things. In the wet season the whole thing is that soft skin-like red that tends to lead to actual tree-hugging. Then the red peels away leaving bright lime-green bark that photosynthesizes in the dry season.
Someday I'll do a yearlong timelapse of a madrone.
